The short answer

Clean garden waste can be suitable for a separately priced green-waste skip when it meets the acceptance rules.

Why the type of waste matters

The published green-waste tariffs are £150 for a 4-yard skip, £180 for a 6-yard skip and £200 for an 8-yard skip, excluding VAT. They should not be read as prices for a mixed load containing soil, timber or rubble.

What to do before loading

Keep vegetation separate from earth, stones, plastic bags, fencing and treated wood. If the load contains roots with large soil masses, discuss the material before filling.

For a small tidy-up, waste removal may be more convenient. For a larger garden clearance, compare skip sizes and send photos.

Compare the right disposal option

Before paying for a skip, compare skip hire with collection services. Tell the team exactly what you have and whether it is already mixed. The waste category affects both price and acceptance.

All displayed skip prices exclude VAT. Delivery, collection and tipping are included in the price. Heavy soil, rubble and hardcore are restricted to 2- and 4-yard skips. Ton bags and skip bags are quoted separately.

Getting the best price for garden waste

Garden waste is one of the easiest things to put in a skip, and it often has its own lower price. Branches, hedge cuttings, leaves, grass and small roots are all fine. Keeping them separate from general rubbish is what unlocks the green waste rate.

Soil and turf are heavier than they look. A skip full of earth can reach its weight limit long before it is full, so for big digs we usually suggest a 2 or 4-yard skip. Large tree stumps and big logs should be mentioned in advance.

What should not go in with garden waste is anything that would contaminate it, such as plastic pots, bags of rubble, treated timber or old fencing with nails. Put those in a separate load or tell us and we will price the mixed skip instead.

Frequently asked questions

Is garden waste included in a general skip price?

Not automatically. The quoted price covers a particular accepted waste stream. Ask DJ Recycling to confirm the material and any separate collection or disposal cost.

What is the safest way to check?

Send the team your postcode, a photograph of the material and an approximate quantity before you load or order a container.
