Skip bag or conventional skip?
A skip bag can suit a gradual clear-out when space is limited and the material is light enough for the permitted bag. A conventional 2-yard skip is an alternative for approved heavy materials because the 2-yard hardcore-only tariff starts at £100 plus VAT. Price alone is not the whole decision: bags have material restrictions, weights and lifting-access requirements.
For larger building projects, browse skip hire and compare available skip sizes. If the waste is awkward to carry, see rubbish removal instead.
Where can the bag go?
Send a postcode and photograph of the proposed location. The collecting vehicle will need safe access and the bag must be within the permitted load limits. If the bag would stand on a public highway, check the applicable permissions: West Sussex County Council skip licences and the relevant local authority should be consulted rather than assuming a bag can be left on a pavement.
Frequently asked questions
How much are skip bags?
Skip bags cost £70 for 1 yard, £125 for 1.5 yards and £240 for 4.5 yards, all plus VAT. Call us to check availability for your date.
Can I fill a skip bag with hardcore?
Do not assume bags accept rubble or other heavy material. Tell DJ Recycling exactly what you need to dispose of so the team can confirm material and weight limits.
Who skip bags suit best
Skip bags are handy when you only have a small amount of waste, or when there is nowhere to put a full skip. Think flats with no drive, terraced streets, or a one-room clear-out that would leave a 2-yard skip half empty.
The 1-yard bag takes roughly 10 to 15 bin bags of light waste. The 1.5-yard bag suits a small garden tidy or a few bulky items, and the 4.5-yard bag holds about the same as a small skip. Keep heavy rubble to the smaller bags so they stay safe to lift.
Fill the bag at your own pace, then let us know when it is ready to collect. The bag needs to sit somewhere a lorry can reach, ideally on a drive or within a few metres of the road.
