2 yard skip size, dimensions and price
A 2-yard skip is a nominal capacity. A compact container suited to small jobs and, subject to approval, heavier waste that would overload a larger skip. Ask for vehicle access and exact container dimensions before booking.

What does a 2-yard skip cost?
Hardcore £100; mixed/general £125. All prices exclude VAT and assume an approved load and safe placement. Confirm the current total and delivery arrangements.
| Skip size | Hardcore only | Green waste only | Mixed / general |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 yard | £100 | Ask for a quote | £125 |
| 4 yard | £130 | £150 | £220 |
| 6 yard | Not accepted | £180 | £250 |
| 8 yard | Not accepted | £200 | £320 |
All displayed skip prices exclude VAT. Delivery, collection and tipping are included in the price. Heavy soil, rubble and hardcore are restricted to 2- and 4-yard skips. Ton bags and skip bags are quoted separately.
Is a 2-yard skip right for your job?
A 2-yard skip is the smallest we offer and holds roughly 20 to 25 bin bags. It suits a bathroom refit, a small garden tidy or a one-room clear-out. It's also one of only two sizes that can take heavy hardcore, soil and rubble, from £100 + VAT for a hardcore-only load. If you're unsure between this and a 4-yard, pick the bigger one for bulky but light waste and the smaller one for heavy material.
Jobs this size is typically considered for
A small bathroom rip-out, a modest garden wall project, limited building rubble or household rubbish that fits safely.
Rather than estimating from the room alone, list the material type, approximate number of bags or bulky objects, and whether the load contains masonry. Volume and weight are separate limits, so a large light load and a small dense load may need different sizes.
What should not go in it?
Do not place hazardous items, electrical equipment or upholstered seating into mixed waste without approval.
Electrical items, batteries, chemicals, asbestos and some upholstered furniture require separate checks. Consult our skip waste guide and ask us if anything is uncertain. Never assume a low weight allows an otherwise restricted item.
Fitting the skip and arranging delivery
The term “2 yards” describes volume, not exact external length or width. Gates, overhanging branches, parked cars and the vehicle’s approach can all affect safe delivery. Send a photograph and postcode to check access. On-road positioning may require a highway licence.
A 4-yard skip may reduce the need for a second visit when volume is uncertain. Use our size comparison to review alternatives.
Real jobs that fit a 2-yard skip
A 2-yard skip is the smallest skip we deliver, roughly the size of a small car boot stretched out. In practice it takes around 20 to 25 bin bags of mixed waste, or a small amount of very heavy material.
It is the right choice for a bathroom strip-out, a small patio lift, a garden border dig or clearing out one room before decorating. It is also the size we suggest most for soil and rubble, because a bigger skip filled with dense material quickly gets too heavy to lift safely.
Because it is compact, a 2-yard skip fits on most drives, even short ones, and sometimes on a front garden path. If you are unsure whether you need this or a 4-yard skip, think about bulky items. A sofa, a mattress or a pile of fence panels will fill a 2-yard skip fast, so the next size up is usually better value for mixed household clear-outs.
Frequently asked questions
Can I put soil or rubble in a 2-yard skip?
Heavy soil and rubble are restricted to appropriate 2- or 4-yard loads, not 6- or 8-yard skips. Confirm material and weight limits when booking.
Are outside dimensions the same for every skip?
No. Dimensions vary between containers and suppliers. Request the precise container measurements if fitting into a tight space is essential.
